Kim Kardashian no longer has the engagement ring from her ex-husband Kris Humphries.
Surrendering the Ring in Divorce Settlement
The reality star opened up about her short-lived marriage to the former NBA player. She revealed that she had to return the 18-carat emerald-cut diamond ring as part of their 2013 divorce settlement.
“I didn’t keep that,” Kim shared during the March 13 episode of The Kardashians. She explained that she was still legally married to Kris when she became pregnant with her and Kanye West’s oldest daughter, North West. “To finalize the divorce, he demanded the ring back.”
Who Paid for the Ring?
Kim claimed that she covered most of the ring’s cost, while Kris only contributed a fifth. Jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz supported her decision to return it. Still, Kim admitted she felt some frustration about the situation. “I would’ve loved a collection,” she added.
What Happened to the Ring?
After finalizing the divorce, Kris sold the ring at auction for $749,000. His representative confirmed in 2013 that he legally owned the ring after the marriage ended. The Boston Celtics alum felt satisfied with the auction result.
Kim’s Collection of Engagement Rings
Over the years, Kim has owned several significant jewelry pieces. Her first engagement ring, from Damon Thomas, originally belonged to her mother, Kris Jenner. Meanwhile, she kept a 15-carat ring from Kanye West after their 2022 divorce settlement.
“My first engagement ring from Kanye was a cushion-cut,” Kim recalled. It was also the only piece of jewelry she didn’t have with her during the Paris robbery in 2016. Thieves stole her second ring from Kanye, a 20-carat emerald-cut diamond, during the incident.
A Special Ring for North
Despite losing one ring, Kim still treasures the original one Kanye proposed with. “That one I’m gonna give to Northie because she was with me when I got engaged,” she shared.
This sentimental piece remains a significant part of her jewelry collection.
